White Wall Hanging

White Wall Hanging   2007
Weaving as Networking was a week long workshop at the Valand Academy of Art and the Högskolan för Design och Konsthantverkin in Goteborg, Sweden.  Workshop participants designed and created several small woven cloth strips incorporating LEDs and El-wire that can be worn on the body, hung on the wall, or used for any functional, decorative, or artistic applications. These small samples also interact with the white wall hanging that features an LED array.

The workshop was led by Barbara Layne and Studio subTela members, including Hesam Khoshneviss, Meghan Price and Diane Morin, who configured and wove the wall hanging. Workshop participants were from Media Arts and Textiles programs. The workshop was generously hosted by Leslie Johnson at the Valand Art Academy and Gill Marshall-Mereus and Nina Bondesson at the Högskolan för Design och Konsthantverkin. A similar workshop was presented in 2008 at Högskolan i Borås, hosted by Linda Worbin.
